Verified by Contract

A candidate for a top management position applied to a prestigious company that runs international projects and is known for its high standards for people. His resume impressed everyone: years of experience, diplomas from prestigious universities, awards, references from large companies. The documents looked so convincing that an ordinary hiring process would not have raised the slightest doubt.

A Check by Contract

But this company has long worked with our agency: under a contract, we check everyone it intends to hire. That is how it protects its reputation and keeps random and dangerous people out of its business.

The First Inconsistency

At first everything looked convincing: the diplomas and certificates were in hand, and the resume was well written, with no visible inaccuracies. The first inconsistency turned up in a diploma: one of the universities listed had long been closed, and its archives were unavailable for verification. We dug deeper — and serious violations came to light.

Three Violations

First, all the references turned out to be forged. None of the companies listed in the resume knew of such an employee, and some were surprised to learn that their names appeared under fictitious letters.

Second, the diplomas had been made to order by a dubious firm that sells fake documents.

Third — and most serious — the passport details. The candidate was using altered documents to hide his real past.

Flawless documents do not make a flawless person.

What Was Avoided

Without the check, the company risked its money and a scandal in the press. A person with a forged past in a senior position would have undermined clients’ trust and endangered the company’s entire operation.

What a Candidate Check Covers

Today almost anything can be forged: a diploma, a reference letter, a record of previous employment. The higher the position, the more costly a mistake, so a check of a candidate for a senior post answers several questions:

  • does the university exist, and did it issue this diploma;
  • do previous employers know the candidate, and how did his work there end;
  • who actually signed the references;
  • are the identity documents genuine.

The answers take time, but they cost incomparably less than a person with someone else’s past in a manager’s chair.

Long-standing cooperation with us allows the company to avoid such stories. We check every candidate and find what is hidden behind impressive paperwork — so only those who can truly be trusted with the business get in.
